Should You Use a Page Builder for WordPress?

The short answer. Yes. Read more for the long answer 🙂

Are the tools and processes that you have in your business actually holding you back, hampering your progress rather than enhancing it?

We build and manage multiple WordPress sites for clients as well as for our own business, and we’re always looking for ways to improve our efficiency and effectiveness, both in our own business and for the clients we work with.

As part of this process, we’ve investigated many page builder tools for WordPress, and in this post we’ll explore what the benefits are over using a custom theme for a WordPress site. We make extensive use of Beaver Builder and to a lesser extent Divi. These are both powerful page builder tools in the WordPress ecosystem.

Here are 5 reasons to use a Page Builder

1. Low Cost

Page builder themes or plugins typically cost about the same as an off-the-shelf WordPress theme, but far less than a custom built theme. With any WordPress theme, there’s still going to be a lot of work customising it to your exact preferences, and the time it takes to implement this with a good page builder is usually a lot faster.

2. Faster Time to Implement

Further to the above, a page builder setup right can save you a ton of time (and with that, cost). With most page builders you can create custom templates and layouts, letting you or your design team quickly create great assets that you can re-use whenever you create a new page on your site. This shortens the time needed to add content to your site that still looks great and fits the design style of your site.

3. User-Friendliness

Even if you have an agency or freelancer build the site for you, this can be a big bonus down the line. Say for example 6 months after your site launched, you want to change some contact information on your site, perhaps a new phone number. While you could have your developer do this (especially if you’re on a care plan), a well built site using a page builder would make this easier for you, because you won’t need to know how to write code to make any changes. This can reduce the expense of maintaining or changing your site in the long run.

4. Versatility

With a good page builder, you’d have 100% control over the design of your site. You won’t be stuck with any design you chose from a pre-built WordPress theme, or costly changes to a custom theme.

5. Powerful Integrations and Add-Ons

With both Beaver Builder and Divi, there is a massive library of available add-ons and integrations that can provide tons of extra functionality really quickly and easily.

So basically, page builders make your life easier 🙂
We highly recommend Beaver Builder, but there are a number of others available. We’re exploring others like Elementor and Oxygen too, as these look very promising.

As a bonus, if you take one of GEM’s WP Care Plans, we include the use of our page builder plugins (as well as many others in our library) on your site, allowing us to provide more effective service, and enabling all the same benefits mentioned above for you.
